So the other day while I was browsing blogs I came across an entry from Purlpower. "What a surprise", I thought, "there are more people out there who knit very red and back striped pullovers for others!" I remember how my husband kept demanding his version, as you can see he was successful as he was wearing one when I first met him 9 years ago and I could not deny a certain sentimental value. In December 2005 I finally cast on, (he did wait a looooong time...) and it did take me about 4 months to complete due to commitment issues.
His version is knitted as a raglan sweater, I purled the back and the front is plain stockinette, front and back are separated by a 2/2 rib. This way he can wear it either way although he seems to prefer the smooth side to the front.
He said about this sweater that it makes him feel like an "anarchist bumblebee". What better compliment can one get?
